Do you like organic food? Read our blog and get surprised by Valencia´s organic food!

Yesterday the students and teachers of Pickup Valencia Spanish School visited the organic food market in Valencia at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento (the cityhall square). We had an amazing sunny day and learned and tasted many new things!

Every last Sunday of the month is car free in Valencia (healthy and walking-friendly) and the government took advantage of it by organizing a lovely organic food market in Valencia. From 10.00 till 17.00 we enjoyed several lectures about food and its origen, cooking demonstrations, garden related activities and tried some organic food made in Valencia! We were not the only once that are interested in organic food, since the market was filled with people. Where you there as well?

The Mobility Councillors, Giuseppe Grezzi, and Agriculture and Huerta, Consol Castillo, have pointed out that the initiative of the organic food market last Sunday, named “l’Horta to Plaça” was started to bring citizens “everything that occurs in the peri-urban orchards of Valencia and to put agriculture, ecological, economic potential and job alternatives, on the political agenda”.

The organic food market of last Sunday is not the only place in Valencia where you can buy organic food. As you might know, food is an important part of the Valencian culture and people want to know what they eat and where it comes from. This is why last year many organic food shops opened in Valencia (also some really close to Pickup Valencia Spanish School), like Herbolario Navarro, Ecorgánic Ecomarket and many more!

Where you not there last Sunday? Do not worry! The plaza del Ayuntamiento is hosting every last Sunday of the month different activities during car free Sundays, such as theater, street circus or carnivals against climate change.
